What are the teaching and team time structures like?

Teams in Laos meet about once a week to encourage one another, talk about life, and grow together. Informally, teams get together often to share life together, share meals, and hang out together with friends.

What does ongoing professional/personal development look like?

With teammates in all different phases of life and career, professional development is not one-size-fits-all. Each teacher’s personal and professional development is both self-guided and supported by the accountability of authentic community with their team. The city team leader also serves as a resource and guide to ensure that each team member has what they need to grow.

What is housing like?

Costs and specifics of housing vary from case to case, but teammates help to find housing for new teachers within the first three to six weeks. During that time, new teachers live in a guesthouse. In some cases, housing is already assigned when teachers arrive.

What is it like to raise a family in Laos?

Lao culture highly values family, so the welcome in the community is wonderful! It also opens doors to connecting with students who enjoy spending time with their teachers’ families since they are often far away from their own.

If only one spouse is teaching, the other will find no shortage of opportunities. Hospitality is valued in this culture, and many members of the community may want to practice their English. Other roles of leadership and support within the team may also be available.
